INDIAN TRAIL, N.C. -- For the first time in school history, the Porter Ridge Pirates are headed to the state title game in Clas 4A high school football.
The Pirates edged Mooresville 34-28 at home and will face Scotland County next Saturday night at Wake Forest at 7 p.m. Porter Ridge, now 14-0, led 20-14 at half and was able to hold on to top the Blue Devils.
Mooresville finished the season at 12-3, while the Pirates head to the title game after falling in the semifinals in 2010.
