WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. (AP)—Kwashaun Quick threw for three touchdowns as Scotland County rallied to beat Indian Trail Porter Ridge 42-16 on Saturday for its first Class 4-A North Carolina High School Athletic Association championship.

Quick, the game’s most valuable player, overcame two first-half interceptions and a 13-point deficit to throw for 228 yards for the Fighting Scots (15-0). He had scoring passes of 5 and 82 yards to Travis Wall, and 16 yards to Seyyon Moody.

Tony McRae added TD runs of 3 and 6 yards for Scotland, which also scored on lineman Kris Tyndall’s 24-yard interception return in the fourth quarter.

Lee McNeill threw for 161 yards and a 3-yard touchdown pass to Zach Scarboro for the Pirates (14-1). That and Jordan Oakley’s 82-yard interception return put Porter Ridge up 13-0 in the first quarter.

The Pirates’ only second-half score was a 35-yard field goal by Stephen Muscarello in the third quarter.
