High-powered Vance attack blitzes winless Independence

The Vance Cougars dominated Independence in a 52-14 beating.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Vance Cougars’ offensive tour de force continued Friday in a convincing 52-14 win over the winless Independence Patriots.

The Patriots jumped out to a quick 7-0 lead on a David Short-to-Mohamed Asfar 11-yard touchdown pass. That was the extent of Indy’s controlling of the game, however.

East Carolina commit Kingsley Ifedi tied the game at 7 with a 20-yard scoring run. An interception set up the Cougars with a short field and Ifedi again found the endzone on the ground and gave Vance a 14-7 lead.

The Cougars raced out of the gates in the second half, outscoring Independence 38-7 to cruise to 5-0 on the season. Aaron Brand’s team visits AL Brown in their conference opener on September 30.
