Sun Valley escapes Porter Ridge 34-27

Sun Valley kept their perfect season alive with a 34-27 win over Porter Ridge.

UNION COUNTY, N.C. – After holding off a rally from Porter Ridge, the Sun Valley Spartans are 4-0 for the first time since 1978.

The Spartans battled back-and-forth with the Pirates throughout Friday’s contest. At the half, Sun Valley was on top 20-17, setting the stage for a thrilling second half.

A quick touchdown gave the Spartans a 10-point edge at 27-17. That’s when Porter Ridge went to work. A field goal led to a touchdown for the Pirates, who tied the game at 27 in the fourth quarter.

Sun Valley scored late in the fourth quarter to hold on to a 34-27 victory.
