Jordan calls for peace in Charlotte

CHARLOTTE - Charlotte Hornets chairman and president Michael Jordan released a statement Wednesday calling for unity and peace.

"It is more important than ever that we restore calm and come together," said Jordan, "as a community in a peaceful demonstration and conversation, and in constructive and non-violent ways."

Jordan began his statement addressing the officer-involved shooting of Keith Lamont Scott

"I want to express my condolences to the Scott family for their loss," said Jordan. "I also wish for a full recovery for those who have been injured."

Jordan says the Hornets are "committed to working with civic leaders, our elected leaders and law enforcement to foster more trust, transparency and understanding so we can heal and grow together as a community."
