CHAPEL HILL - Two Charlotte-area natives are helping the North Carolina Tar Heels have a fantastic season in 2016-17.
Kennedy Meeks, a West Charlotte graduate, and Hough grad Luke Maye have had a big part in UNC clinching at least a share of the ACC regular-season championship this season.
With a win over Duke, Saturday, the Tar Heels would win the title outright.
Meeks, a senior, is fourth in the ACC in rebounding with 9.1 boards per game. He is also second in field goal percentage, making 54.2 percent of his shots.
Along with Justin Jackson, Meeks is the only other Tar Heel to start all 31 games this season.
Maye, a sophomore, has played in 26 games, averaging 4.9 points, and 3.8 rebounds helping off the bench.
He's been relied upon in several big spots this year. His one start was in the team's first game against Duke.
