CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Charlotte Checkers general manager and head coach Derek Wilkinson announced today that forward Daniel Tkaczuk has been returned to the team from the American Hockey League’s Hartford Wolf Pack.

Tkaczuk, 30, was loaned to the AHL’s Syracuse Crunch on Dec. 6 where he spent three games and was held pointless. He was then loaned to the Rochester Americans for seven games, collecting two assists, before heading to Hartford for two contests.

The former member of the NHL’s Calgary Flames had 18 points (6g, 12a) in 12 games with the Checkers before being loaned to Syracuse, including a three-goal, two-assist performance on Nov. 26 against Gwinnett.

The 30-year-old native of Toronto, Ontario spent the last six seasons in the German Elite League, Finnish Elite League and Italian League, where he led Milan to two consecutive Italian League Championships in 2004 and 2005.

Tkaczuk was drafted by Calgary in the first round of the 1997 NHL Entry Draft and won a gold medal with Team Canada at the 1999 World Junior Hockey Championships. He also won an AHL championship with Saint John in 2001.

The Checkers (18-13-4-0) will host the Gwinnett Gladiators today at Time Warner Cable Arena. Game time is 2 p.m. and ticket information can be obtained by calling 704-342-4-ICE or visiting www.gocheckers.com.
