After winning the 22nd race of his Sprint Cup Series career Sunday at Pocono Raceway, Dale Earnhardt Jr. was asked by a reporter to name his "simple joys."
Earnhardt came up with four:
1. Amy Reimann, his girlfriend
2. The Washington Redskins
3. His family
4. Drinking a cold beer
"You got that in the right order, too," crew chief Steve Letarte chimed in from the seat next to Earnhardt. "(From) a man that would be (married) 13 years in December, you got that in the right order."
Earnhardt, who turns 40 in October, is having one of the best years of his career both on and off the track and said there are "a lot of (joys) right now."
"I mean everything about life right now has been great," he said. "I got my professional life good and the personal life's good. I've just learned and grown a lot in the last four or five years working with this group, so it's been a big thing."
In addition to his simple joys away from the track, Earnhardt has already won three races in 2014 — or as many as he won from 2006-2013 combined.
