CHARLOTTE, N.C. - The 43 Ford has lost crew chief Todd Parrott for the forseeable future. Thursday, NASCAR suspended Todd Parrott for violating the sport's substance abuse policy.

Parrott is the third high profile offender of the random drug testing policy, which was implemented in 2009. He's been a Cup series Chief since 1995, starting his career with Robert Yates Racing and winning the 1999 championship with Dale Jarrett.

Parrott left Yates for Petty Enterprises in 2006, first teaming with former champion Bobby Labonte. He recently served as Aric Almirola's chief and has also worked for Roush Fenway and JTG Daugherty Racing.

Richard Petty Motorsports VP of Competition, Sammy Johns, will serve as the 43 crew chief on an interim basis until further notice.
