HARRISBURG, N.C. -- "Cars get us from point A to point B every day," says NASCAR driver Trevor Bayne.  That was certainly true in February of 2011, when now 22-year-old Bayne won the Daytona 500.

He certainly knew that day how important the work of his crew really was.

"Every piece makes a difference, so these guys are the blood behind this team that gets me to the race track," says Bayne.

And for the past three years now, Bayne and Wood Brothers Racing have partnered to bring the next crop of auto experts along as part of an internship through AAA and Ford.

"Being able to see how his mechanics work on his car is awesome," says job shadow Logan Boyle.

Boyle and Cody Collins, both Oregon high school students, won the national competition in Michigan this year to get this opportunity.  Not only to learn from Bayne but from the famed Wood Brothers.

"It takes dedication.  You really have to be interested in it to do the best job," says Leonard Wood.

"They're a family here and it's just really cool to watch and see how they do it," says intern Cody Collins.

Both of these guys are getting to learn from two of the best in the sport.  This is possibly the first step to their future career.

"It's nice to see these guys come along that have talent and interest in that," says Wood.

Success here hopefully leads to success down the road.
