Panthers activate Greg Olsen, 'likely' to start against Jets

CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Panthers star Greg Olsen is expected to be back on the field against the New York Jets Sunday.

The Carolina Panthers activated Olsen from injured reserve Friday afternoon after missing the last eight games with a broken foot.

Panthers coach Ron Rivera said the team will use Olsen "judiciously," but he will likely start.

Rookie wide receiver Curtis Samuel will be placed on injured reserve to make room for Olsen on the team's 53-man roster. Samuel sustained an ankle injury during Carolina's 45-21 victory over the Miami Dolphins in Week 10.

Through nine games, Samuel had 15 receptions for 115 yards.
