Panthers sign S Mike Adams, lose Remmers

CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Carolina Panthers signed a Pro Bowl safety while losing an offensive tackle to free agency Friday.

Carolina signed former Indianapolis Colts safety Mike Adams to a two-year contract, as announced by the Panthers website.

Adams has played in the NFL for 13 seasons and was selected in the Pro Bowl following the 2014 and 2015 regular seasons. He had played the previous three seasons with the Colts.

Minnesota Vikings signed former Panthers offensive lineman Mike Remmers, as the team announced on Twitter Friday.

On the same day, the Panthers signed a former Vikings lineman Matt Khalil. Khalil is a brother of current Panther Ryan Khalil.

The Panthers have also signed former Buccanneers wide receiver Russell Shepard to a three-year deal.

Things can also get confusing in the Panthers locker room, as Carolina signed former Vikings wide receiver Charles Johnson on a one-year contract. On Tuesday, Carolina re-signed defensive end Charles Johnson to a two-year contract.
