KRASNAYA POLYANA, Russia – American Jacqueline Hernandez was the second rider to crash during the Olympic women’s boardercross seeding runs at Rosa Khutor Extreme Park on Sunday.

Hernandez, 21, landed low off a jump and planted the heel edge of her board in the snow. That whipped her backwards, and her head whipped against the course as she somersaulted down the course.

She lay motionless for a while as medical personnel rushed to the course. Hernandez was sitting up and moving before being put in a sled and carted down the hill.

Earlier in the seeding run, Norway’s Helen Olafsen crashed early in the run and had to be carted off the course.

Riders are competing in individual time trials now to determine seeding for the finals, which will be contested in heats of six at a time.
