LONDON -- Five members of the United States field hockey team are North Carolina college graduates, and at the Olympic Stadium, they're taking it all in.

"It brings chills," said Katelyn Falgowski, a UNC Chapel Hill grad. "It makes me not be able to breathe just thinking about it."

Rachel Dawson, another UNC graduate said, "I just think the whole Olympic spirit is amazing. All these people coming together through sport and competing, but competing in friendship. And I think that's just such a powerful message. It's beautiful to be a part of it and I think as these girls said, humbling."

For UNC grad Jaclyn Kintzer, it means everything.

"We've all dreamed of this and worked so hard to get here and representing our country along with everything else. It's not for me, it's not for the team. It's for USA."

"It's something that's bigger than yourself," said Wake Forest graduate Lauren Crandall. "You know, it's bigger than us. It's bigger than our sport. You represent your country, but you're with all the other elite athletes of the world."

Fellow Wake Forest graduate Michelle Kasold said, "It's just amazing to be here representing our country. Words can't describe the feeling we get when we just walk out in our USA gear."

As these Carolina and Wake grads go for the gold, they also got a little love on the ‘Today Show.’ Still, all remain grounded, recognizing what they've already received.

"We're fortunate and lucky to be here," said Falgowski. "We're so thankful for it."
