Panthers' Coleman in concussion protocol

Things aren't getting any easier for the Carolina Panthers.

On Wednesday the team announced starting strong safety Kurt Coleman had entered the NFL's concussion protocol.

Head Coach Ron Rivera said mid-season signee Michael Griffin will start on Sunday against the Seahawks.

It is unclear when or why Coleman started showing signs of having a concussion.

The Panthers have now had a league-high seven players in the concussion protocol in 2016.

Coleman has started all 11 games for the Panthers, and started 15 games in 2015.

In 2016, the seven-year veteran has two interceptions, and 46 tackles.

Carolina travels to Seattle on Sunday to play the Seahawks on Sunday Night Football on NBC Charlotte.
