JM Robinson point guard Lavar Batts Jr., considered the top player in North Carolina for the Class of 2017, has committed to North Carolina State.
Batts, who had long been committed to Virginia Commonwealth University, announced the decision on Twitter Saturday afternoon.
Batts won a state championship in his junior season, 2015-16, playing for his father, Lavar Batts Sr.
His senior season, the 6-2 floor general scored 23.3 points per game to go along with 4.4 assists, 5.4 rebounds and 1.6 steals.
The Wolfpack are now led by Kevin Keatts, hired after three seasons at UNC-Wilmington. He replaced the fired Mark Gottfried.
