CHARLOTTE - NASCAR driver Ricky Stenhouse Jr., took advantage of a fitting date on the calendar to give back on Tuesday.
Stenhouse, who's Ford Fusion is sponsored by Fifth Third Bank, helped out Second Harvest Food Bank on May 3.
"It's really all about supporting their community," said Stenhouse Jr., whose team, Roush Fenway Racing was also involved.
The goal on 5/3? Help donate 1 million meals during the month of May by packing countless bags with food.
"It hits a lot of the guys on the team," Stenhouse said. "Especially the guys with kids and knowing some of the kids we're feeding could be some of their kids friends in school. All across Charlotte. If we can make our area better, and the kids happier and healthier, it's cool to give back."
On the track, Stenhouse Jr. is coming off two consecutive Top 10 finishes, including last weekend's fourth-place finish at Richmond, heading in to this weekend's racing at Talladega.
"Talladega's all about missing wrecks," he said. "The last couple of weeks have been good. Just trying to keep that momentum going."
