CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Paris Hackett is a junior who plays soccer at Phillip O. Berry Academy of Technology.
And volleyball. And at one point, a star basketball player.
"You learn time management," Hackett says. "You learn how to get along with people you might not get along with outside of that sport. You learn how to work for something."
Hackett works hard to help her team win as well. But her junior year is spent on more than just sports. She spends time volunteering to help younger kids learn the sports she loves.
"Be the change you want to see," she says. "If you want to do something, you have to go out and do it... Take initiative to do it."
It's a reminder that no feat is too small. From a soccer player, with some pretty sweet feet herself.
"Even a simple smile in the store can make someone's day. Just take it one step at a time instead of saying you can't do it, just do it." Hackett says.
