LONDON – Local Olympian swimmer Nick Thoman completed a promise he made to NewsChannel 36 anchor Dave Wagner in London Friday—singing on television after winning a gold medal.
Thoman and his teammate Matt Grevers went one-two in the 100 meter backstroke earlier during the Olympics. And after that silver medal, Thoman helped the four by 100 meter medley relay squad take home gold as well.
He promised NewsChannel 36 if he wins gold in the medley relay, he'll board the top of a double decker bus in London and sing a song by country crooner Trace Adkins.
He fulfilled his singing promise, with one change—he sang Johnny Cash inside a swanky London karaoke bar.
