Tony Burbeck is a general assignment reporter with a passion for crafting stories.

He is known for his ability to find stories, including numerous exclusives. His work helps the station win awards, including a regional Edward R. Murrow, among others.

"I love it when people call or email with tips and ideas," Tony says. "Chances are if I get your number, it's scribbled in the margins of all those stapled together pages in my briefcase."

Tony grew up a news junkie in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

"I got my first job in news on a sports résumé tape and along the way I learned how to do everything, including how to shoot, write, edit, anchor, produce and run a live truck," Tony says. "Those skills are invaluable."
Tony graduated Summa Cum Laude from the University of Minnesota. He's known to fly a Minnesota Vikings flag at his house.

"I grew up there, but this is my home."

Warm weather is one reason why.

Tony has a beautiful wife and daughter and lives in Waxhaw.

He's been at NBC Charlotte since March 2000.
