Bill McGinty serves as the anchor of NBC Charlotte News at 5:30 p.m. and the consumer and investigative reporter. He responds to consumer based complaints that lead to in-depth investigative reporting. His series is known as "Get McGinty."

In 2013, Bill's reporting led to a lawsuit being filed against a local property investor who acquired a valuable home from an 88-year-old woman with dementia. The "purchase" took place bedside in a nursing home without the elderly woman's family or lawyer present. Our reporting, and exposure of the issue, prompted a lawsuit, and a judge freezing the property from future sale until the matter was settled. In May 2014, the suit was settled out of court with an estimated $155,000 going back to the elderly woman and her family per public records.
