CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) - Two more sea turtles were released following their rehabilitation at the sea turtle hospital at the South Carolina Aquarium in Charleston.
The aquarium said in a release that one of the turtles released Wednesday is Bay, a 11-pound Kemp's ridley sea turtle accidentally caught by a fisherman at the pier at Edisto Beach State Park back in June. The turtle was released after having the hook it swallowed surgically removed.
The other turtle is Mitchell, a 65-pound juvenile loggerhead sea turtle. He was found on Hilton Head Island in May entangled in a fishing line, malnourished and covered in barnacles.
The turtles were released at the Isle of Palms County Park.
