CHARLOTTE, N.C. The Sierra Club set it s sights on helping to beautify the Ribbon Walk Saturday.

Volunteers helped to remove invasive plants during the three hour work session. The Ribbon Walk is a 188 acre urban forest. It s located four miles from Charlotte s inner city.

The preserve protects diversity of forest and wetland habitats including one of the oldest American beech ree groves in the region.

According to the Sierra Club, future workdays will focus on trail maintenance and enhancement.
