BOONE, N.C. -- Appalachian State University Police arrested a suspect accused of breaking-in to and burglarizing a dorm room.

Around 4 a.m. Sunday, officials say a suspect pried open an exterior window to a dorm room in the Appalachian Panhellenic Hall.

Numerous items were taken, officials say, with a value of $640.

App State Police arrested freshman Alec Christopher Schemmel, 20, of Mecklenburg County; he's charged with one felony count of breaking and entering and one count of misdemeanor larceny.

Anonymous tips led police to Schemmel.

Schemmel's bond was set at $10,000.
