LENOIR, N.C. -- The Caldwell County School District is conducting an internal investigation into a teacher following a controversial test.

The district tells NBC Charlotte the teacher gave a mock test exercise in his advanced placement psychology class, which covers individual differences and cultures.

Two of the West Caldwell High School students who took the test brought the Chitling Test to the attention of the administration.

Caldwell County Schools Superintendent Dr. Steve Stone called the test inappropriate and said it won t be used again.

The teacher is still working. The school didn t say how long he has worked there but says he is not a beginner teacher.

The test was developed by psychologist Adrian Dove in the 1970s.
