CONCORD, N.C. -- NASCAR S Bruton Smith wants to make $100 million worth of improvements to Charlotte Motor Speedway.

The billionaire speedway owner hinted he ll ask for help from the state to do it.

Smith brought up the idea to Governor McCrory Thursday.

We want to spend $100 million here and improve our situation, and I certainly would like to have you say that's a good thing, he said.

He referenced the Bank of America Stadium renovations. However, that funding came from targeted revenue, not state funding.

I have no idea what he was referring to. That s what we love about Bruton, the governor said.

Smith threatened to move the speedway from Charlotte to Las Vegas just last year.

A track spokesperson says there are not any specific improvement plans yet.
