CHARLOTTE, N.C. Suspects have been charged following a north Charlotte double shooting.

It happened around 10:15 p.m. Friday in the 8500 block of University Station Circle at the Davis Commons Apartment complex.

Police say the shooting stemmed from an earlier altercation between a 17-year-old male victim and several suspects.

Investigators say the suspects returned to the scene and began shooting at the 17-year-old victim, striking him and a 6-year-old boy.

A police officer in the area heard the gunfire and saw the vehicle fleeing the scene.

Authorities were able to stop the vehicle during a felony traffic stop and arrested the five people inside.

Christopher Willis, 21, and Tevin Mayweather, 29, are charged with two counts of assault with a deadly weapon and injury to personal property. Mayweather also faces a felony firearm charge, while Willis is accused of drug crimes.

Roberto Garcia, 18, was arrested for allegedly carrying marijuana.

They are in the custody of the Mecklenburg County Sheriff s Office.

Both victims were both taken to Carolinas Medical Center with serious, but non-life-threatening injuries.
