CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Charlotte-Mecklenburg police are trying to solve one of the worst cases of vandalism they have ever seen.

David Williams has been in the wrecker business for 30 years. On Monday he received the shock of his life when he entered his Eastway Wrecker Services building on North Sharon Amity Drive in east Charlotte.

There was shattered glass everywhere. Many of the walls had holes where the suspects pulled out numerous wall outlets, including spilled paint on the floors and plenty of dust.

We have 16 offices in this building and they got to every one of them, said Williams. They had to be filthy dirty when they got out of here. They set off probably 25 to 30 fire extinguishers through the whole place.

The suspects also sprayed graffiti on the walls, upended desks and destroyed Williams beloved classic car collection, including a Mercedes, a 1937 Chrysler and a Corvette.

He doesn t know who targeted his business and because of the graffiti investigators are looking into the possibility a gang might be responsible.

Somebody was really mad to do all this. I'm not talking at me personally, I'm talking about mad, said Williams.
