ROCKHILL, S.C. -- Officers with the York County Drug Enforcement Unit arrested two Charlotteans for heroin possession, among other things, while their 1-year-old child was present.

Last Wednesday Michael Damon, 42, and Rebecca McAlister, 36, were found to be in possession of heroin, Xanax and drug paraphernalia at the home of Edward Ball, Jr, officials say.

Officials say Damon and McAlister's 1-year-old child was in the home--within close proximity of needles intended for heroin use. Authorities also say the child was not appropriately dressed for the cold weather conditions.

Ball's home is less than half a mile away from Glencairn Gardens Park, earning Damon two counts of distribution of Xanax in proximity to a park. Damon also faces two counts of distribution of Xanax, second offense, possession of heroin and unlawful neglect of a child.

McAlister, too, is charged with unlawful neglect of a child, possession of heroin and possession of Xanax.

Ball is facing three counts each of possession of heroin and possession of Xanax.
