CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- A driver is facing citations after running a red light and smashing his vehicle into a Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police cruiser on Tuesday afternoon, officials say.

Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police say a man was driving his vehicle northbound on N. Davidson street when he ran a red light, striking a CMPDsergeant who was headed westbound on 6th Street.

Fortunately, no one was injured in the collision.

The driver was issued two citations.
