CHARLOTTE, N.C.-- A Charlotte woman celebrated a special milestone Wednesday that many people will never have the chance to.

Friends and family helped Hazel Grossman ring in her 100th birthday.

She reminisced about teaching grade school for 40 years and surviving the flu outbreak of 1918.

When asked about the secret to a long life, Grossman says, My mother was a college student, and she really learned what the best nutrition was.
