FORT MILL, S.C. Fort Mill Police are investigating after a child was found on the playground, and later disappeared.

The incident happened Friday morning; authorities said a concerned citizen contacted police after noticing a child was alone at the playground.

After the concerned citizen offered the child his jacket, a nearby woman accompanied by two young boys approached them.

According to authorities, the concerned citizen told the woman that he was heading to his car to get his cell phone to contact police and they agreed to standby with the child.

When officers arrived, the child and the woman were no where to be found. According to the police report, the citizen's jacket was found laying on a piece of playground equipment.

Investigators said, the citizen told them that there was previously a small dark blue van with a white enclosed rooftop luggage carrier on top. The man said the van had a New Jersey license plate.

Officers searched the area, and began searching for the vehicle but with no luck.

Law enforcement also used Emergency Operations to send phone calls to homes in the area advising them of the situation.

Police said there has been no report made with local law enforcement agencies in reference to a missing child.
