PINEHURST, N.C. -- A Wilmington man is facing a DWI charge, among others, after allegedly hitting a trooper with his with his golf cart while he worked security at the U.S. Open Championship.

Thomas Lineberry, 59, is charged with felony assault on a law officer, felony hit and run, driving while impaired and resist, obstruct or delay after he hit a trooper while driving his golf cart at Pinehurst, according to North Carolina Highway Patrol.

The trooper was treated at the SHP medical trailer for a minor leg injury and released.

A magistrate gave Lineberry a $3000 bond, which he posted on Saturday.
