MOORESVILLE, N.C. -- A home that cost approximately $22 million to build sold Friday for $4,385,000.

Known as Chateau Lyon, the French inspired mansion is one of only four homes on the point of the gated Alexander Island neighborhood in Mooresville.

Lake Norman Realty listed the home back in the fall for $8 million. In January, the owner, BB&T out of Winston-Salem approved lowering the price to $5,900,000.

At just under $4.4 million, the new owner appears to have gotten a good deal, considering the original construction cost.

The more than 8,700 square foot home was completed in 2009 by the Hendricks of Boyles Furniture, but the home later went back to the bank.

It has incredible features like a $65,000 copper tub and a range that costs in the neighborhood of $110,000. The roof tiles are estimated to be 250 years old.

Lake Norman Realty s Debbie Monroe says the new buyers don t plan to move in right away and are offering the home for lease at $12,000 per month.
