SALISBURY, N.C. -- A teen has died from his injuries after a longboarding accident on Monday, according to officials at the Wake Forest Baptist Hospital.

Officials said 16-year-old Jonah King died from his injuries at the Winston-Salem hospital. King was initially listed in critical condition, but hospital officials confirmed to NewsChannel 36 Wednesday morning that King had died.

King and a friend had been longboarding around 1:30 a.m. Monday morning when he fell off his board.

Authorities said King was being pulled from behind by his friend's car while on the longboard when he lost control and fell.

King was not wearing a helmet during the time of the incident.

Deputies said the accident is still under investigation and no charges have been filed in the case.
