CALDWELLCOUNTY, N.C. -- The Caldwell County Fire Marshal is investigating an overnight house fire in the Patterson community.

Late Thursday night, a neighbor called in the blaze at a home in the 2300 block of Setzers Creek Road.

Fire Marshal Robbie Wilkie says the resident's dog awoke her, allowing her to escape the single-story home.

Wilkie says the accidental fire started in the front room.

The home was destroyed, and damages are estimated around $25,000.

The exact cause of the fire has not yet been determined.

The Patterson, Yadkin Valley and Valmead Fire Departments responded in addition to the Caldwell County Fire Marshal's Office.
