CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police worked to clear a six-car pile-up on outbound Independence Boulevard during rush hour on Friday evening.

An icy bridge led to the collision near the intersection of W.T. Harris Boulevard, police say.

No injuries were reported, but traffic was backed up in the area for about half an hour.

The scene was cleared by 5:15 p.m., and crews are working to salt the bridge where the accident occurred.
