CHARLOTTE, N.C. Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police are investigating a break in that ended with the home going up in flames.

The incident happened early Friday morning at a home on Cades Cove Drive. Officials said the victim was inside the home when two suspects attempted to break inside.

As authorities arrived, the two suspects ran away but were later taken into custody. Police arrested Rashawn Sharmario Sanders and Davion Jerome Herron.

According to investigators, the men said they were planning to break-in to rob the victims of drugs and money they believed were inside the home.

In a bizarre twist, as investigators were conducting their interviews an additional call was made to 911 that the house was on fire.

Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police said firefighters were not able to save the home.

The Arson Task Force is now investigating what led up to the blaze.

Herron and Sanders are facing a slew of charges including three counts of second degree kidnapping.
