MINT HILL, N.C. -- Police in Mint Hill are investigating an overnight shooting at a gas station.

Police said two men got into an altercation at the Express Stop on Idewild Road around 3:30 a.m.

Both men exchanged gunfire, according to police, and then left the scene.

One of them returned to the scene soon after and was taken to the police department for questioning. He has since been released, but the investigation is ongoing.

Around the same time, a 911 came in from the Victoria Park Apartment for the second man. He was taken to CMC Main for multiple gunshot wounds.

Police are still looking into a motive. They have not released the names of the two men involved.
