LANCASTER, S.C. -- The Lancaster County Sheriff's Office is currently on the scene of a homicide.

The Lancaster Coroner's Office tells NBCCharlotte that a homicide occurred around 7:30 Monday morning in the 2600 block of Home Place.

Upon their arrival, deputies found the victim, 54-year-old Elaine Ghent dead in the bedroom; officials say she had been stabbed.

Her husband, John M. Ghent, 54, was found injured, lying on the kitchen floor. Officials say John sustained his injuries while fighting with another family member-- the family member who found Elaine dead.

John has been arrested and charged with his wife's murder.

Lancaster County Sheriff Barry Faile says, Incidents of family violence are especially tough to deal with, and our thoughts and prayers are with Ms. Ghent's family.
