CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police are investigating a fatal accident involving an ATV in west Charlotte.

The accident happened around 5:22 p.m. Saturday on Dillard Valley Road. According to officials, Marvin Andrew Davis, 35, attempted to jump the creek when his ATV struck the embankment on the other side of the creek.

Investigators determined Davis was thrown off the ATV, Medic later pronounced him dead on the scene. According to Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police, he was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash. Officials said speed was a contributing factor to the crash, while alcohol was not.

The crash is being investigated as a Public Accident by authorities. Anyone who witnessed this crash or has information is encouraged to call Crime Stoppers at 704-334-1600.
