CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- The day was January 9, 2014. Elloree Massey was driving her route as a Mecklenburg County bus driver when she noticed an elderly man on the tracks at the Sugarcreek crossing.

Get off there, get off there Massey yelled as she dashed out of her bus.

At this very moment a train is roaring down the tracks towards them.

At the last second, the man, looking confused, stumbles to safety.

Massey will be honored for her bravery Tuesday night at the Mecklenburg County Commissioner meeting.

I don't feel like a hero. I just hope someone would do the same for me, she said.
