SPOKANE, Wash. Police arrested a man who brought a suspicious envelope to the Davenport Hotel Sunday afternoon in Downtown Spokane.

Police said Robert Malley, 43, approached the front desk at around 12:15 p.m., demanding to speak with the FBI. He then handed an envelope labeled anthrax to a security guard, who brought it outside and flagged down a police officer according to law enforcement. Authorities said Malley was then taken into custody and the envelope was secured.

Police, fire and hazmat crews blocked off Sprague Avenue from Howard Street to Post Street to deploy hazardous materials precautions. Police inspected the envelope and said the substance inside did not appear to be dangerous.

Malley was booked into the Spokane County Jail for Malicious Placement of an Intimidation Device.
