CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Some changes are on the way this week for people in Charlotte who ride CATS. A new route is opening up and it may cost you more money to ride.

Starting Tuesday, a one way ticket for the bus or light rail is going up 20 cents. The new fare will be $2.20.

Francis Schick rides her bike part of the way to her job at an elementary school. Schick also takes the CATS Lynx line. She was shocked to hear that rates will increase at the start of next month.

That's a bummer, Schick said as she purchased what will be her last ticket for $2.00. I normally ride (her bike) home. Now I may have to get more motivation to ride it in the mornings.

Starting Tuesday CATS will make its first increase in two years. One way fares on local bus routes and Lynx Blue lines will go up 20 cents.

CATS will also increase other fares anywhere from 10 cents to 25 cents.

Also starting Tuesday, new stops for the 55 bus from Westinghouse. The bus will now stop at the Premium Outlets Mall, which is great news for employees and even better for anyone wanting to use CATS to check out the mall.
