CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Police are investigating an armed robbery committed in broad daylight at the Showmars on East Boulevard.

When the suspects went into the restaurant, the manager decided to fight back. He ended up getting cut with a knife, but he was not seriously injured.

The men behind the attack are still on the loose. It all happened at about 4 p.m. Sunday.

Three men walked into Showmars. Two were armed with knives and the third had a gun.

So he was back in the manager office, preparing the deposit when the suspects came in through a front patio door, robbed him and also assaulted him, said Sgt. R.W. Wilson with Charlotte-Mecklenburg police.

Neighbors and customers were surprised by the holdup.

This is a very busy street. You have people running, like I said, you have a large amount of businesses here. Just really surprised that happened during the daytime, said Chris Jackson, a customer at Showmars.

Police don't have a lot of information about the suspects.

Best we can guess, according to the manager, the suspects where white males wearing black ski masks and black gloves, which for that area is highly unusual, said Wilson.

Darren Beam and Holly Disser frequent the area often and are worried because the suspects have not been caught.

I think this neighborhood is pretty safe and friendly so it worries me a little bit, said Beam.

Disser feels the same, saying, This is a pretty safe neighborhood and I feel safe walking around here at night and I guess it's just surprising.

Police don't have a lot to work with on this case. There is no surveillance video and the victim was not able to get a description of the suspects because they were wearing ski masks. There is also no description of the getaway car.

Anyone with information in the case should call Crime Stoppers at 704-334-1600.
