ROCK HILL, S.C. A clerk was shot during a Wednesday night robbery at a Rock Hill convenience store.

The incident took place around 11 p.m. at the Cherry Road Discount Food & Beverage convenience store at 348 South Cherry Road.

Police said two men came into the store and shot the 38-year-old clerk during the robbery.

Officers who were patrolling nearby chased the men on foot, and caught 20-year-old Kadeem Sanders. Police said Sanders carried a rifle into the store.

The second suspect is on the loose, and no details to identify that man have been released.

The clerk was airlifted to Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte and is in stable condition.

Sanders is charged with attempted murder, armed robbery, possession of a firearm during a crime of violence and criminal conspiracy.
