CHARLOTTE, N.C. The Charlotte Area Transit System released surveillance footage Wednesday after a light rail train smashed into a car at a crossing in south Charlotte on Sunday.
Officials say a woman was trying to beat the stop arms for the light rail train when it smashed into her vehicle.
The crash happened at the intersection of Remount Road and South Boulevard. Fire officials said one person in the car was trapped, and it took a crew of 14 firefighters about 12 minutes to free the victim.
Investigators told NewsChannel 36 the woman was cited after the accident.
One person was transported to the hospital, according to the Charlotte Fire Department.
