HICKORY, N.C. -- A two-alarm fire damaged several apartments on Sunday night in Hickory.
Firefighters were called to the complex at 621 Second Street Place SW at 9:20 p.m. and arrived to find flames coming from the second story windows.
Three fire trucks battled the blaze for 20 minutes before the fire was contained.
No injuries were reported and damages were considered major, said Hickory Fire Department spokesperson Terri Byers in a statement.
Due to fire and water damage, power to the apartment complex was disconnected and the occupants had to be relocated. The Red Cross responded to the scene and is assisting persons living in the complex, Byers added.
It's unclear what caused the fire. An investigation is underway.
