In a new twist, a UNC Chapel Hill student may be suspended, or even expelled for speaking out-- claiming she was raped.

The university gave Landen Gambill an honor code violation, saying that she intimidated the student accused of raping her.

Others say it s tough for women to come forward and report these kinds of crimes, and the fear of honor court retaliation makes it even more difficult.

I was really, and still am, really upset, not just because it is obviously unfair to me, but it's just part of a larger pattern of the way this university handles these cases and treats survivors, said Gambill.

It is important to note, Gambill never filed a police report on the assault.

UNC says the school doesn't tell student prosecutors which cases to bring before the honor court and denies any wrong-doing.
