GASTONIA, N.C. -- One person was ejected from a vehicle in a single-car crash Thursday evening.

Crowder's Mountain Fire and Rescue responded to the single-vehicle crash on Crowders Creek Road just before 8 p.m. Thursday.

The rear-seat passenger, who authorities say was not wearing a seat belt, was ejected through the rear window when the car slammed into a tree.

The passenger was taken to Caromount Regional Medical Center with injuries officials described as possibly life threatening.

The driver and the passenger in the front seat were not injured, and both were wearing seat belts.

None of the passengers' names have been released.
